Synopsis
This production tells the classic story about how a toy rabbit learns the true meaning of being real. In this enchanting musical, based on the children’s book by Margery Williams, the Velveteen Rabbit earns the love of a young person and learns about the joys and pains of love, loss, and self-esteem. When Andrea comes down with scarlet fever, and the doctor proclaims that her beloved Velveteen Rabbit must be destroyed, our favorite stuffed toy must discover what being “real” actually means and how a child’s love is a magical thing.
This musical is performed by students of STC’s School of the Arts enrolled in the Ensemble Musical Workshop. The Ensemble program serves students ages 6-12 and culminates in a full-length production on STC’s Main Stage. These workshops, taught by professional Directors & Actors offer students the experience of participating in a fully-produced musical with sets, costumes and lighting, as well as performance and collaboration skills as they work together to tell great stories.
