Synopsis
In the American West, a pioneer woman named Sarah and six women called her daughters face frontier life. Based on the book The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Allen, this play with music veers away from a traditional storyline and instead presents itself as a series of short tales and tableaux matched with musical numbers. Each piece presents an aspect of frontier life or womanhood, from girlhood, marriage, old age, natural disasters, and, finally, death. The patches are ultimately put together to form one dramatic tableau.
*Note that seating in the Pollock Stage is general admission, first-come, first-served seating, at the discretion of STC House Management. Seating opens approximately one hour before the performance.
