After its triumphant return last year, this crowd-pleasing adaptation of the classic fairy tale comes to STC for an encore presentation and features a live band led by STC favorite Samuel Clein.
Cinderella, presented here as a panto, follows a tradition that dates back to 1717, when John Rich introduced the model to British theatre. Pantos present classic fairy tales with lots of laughs for children and adults alike. Traditionally performed during the Christmas season for family audiences, modern pantomime incorporates song, dance, buffoonery, slapstick, cross-dressing, in-jokes, topical references, mild innuendo, and audience participation.
Cinderella was conceived and directed by Paul Whitworth at Shakespeare Santa Cruz and was first performed at Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Paul Whitworth, Artistic Director, Marcus Cato, Managing Director.
Group rates and special student performances available. Please contact Group Sales at 916-446-7501 ext 120 or lawj@sactheatre.org for more information.
